Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
In a standard treatment Reiki energy flows from the practitioners hands into the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the clients body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the clients needs. Each position is held for three to ten minutes depending on how much Reiki the client needs at each position. The whole treatment usually lasts between 45 and 90 minutes.
Reiki has had a positive affect on all forms of illness and negative conditions. This includes minor things like head or stomach aches, bee stings, colds, flu, tension and anxiety as well as serious illness like heart disease, cancer, leukemia, etc. The side effects of regular medical treatments have also been reduced or eliminated. This includes the negative effects of chemotherapy, post operative pain and depression as well as improving the healing rate and reducing the time needed to stay in the hospital. Reiki always helps and in some cases people have experienced complete healings which have been confirmed by medical tests before and after the Reiki treatments. However, while some have experienced miracles, they cannot be guaranteed. Stress reduction with some improvement in ones physical and psychological condition are what most experience.
A Reiki attunement is the process by which a person receives the ability to give Reiki treatments. The attunement is administered by the Reiki Master during the Reiki class. During the attunement, the Reiki Master will touch the students head, shoulders, and hands and use one or more special breathing techniques. The attunement energies will flow through the Reiki Master and into the student. These special energies are guided by the Higher Power and make adjustments in the students energy pathways and connect the student to the source of Reiki. Because the energetic aspect of the attunement is guided by the Higher Power, it adjusts itself to be exactly right for each student. During the attunement, some students feel warmth in the hands, others may see colors or have visions of spiritual beings. However, it is not necessary to have an inner experience for the attunement to have worked. Most simply feel more relaxed.
BodyTalk is a simple, safe and astonishingly effective system of integrative health care. BodyTalk is a holistic approach to healing, based on proven principles of energy medicine. The body is a complex ecosystem with a delicate balance between physiological biochemical functions, emotional and mental interactions, environmental influences, and hereditary and genetic restrictions. BodyTalk helps synchronize the body’s natural functions - to achieve and maintain healing and growth on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The BodyTalk System seeks to address the "whole person". This means that no aspect of the human psyche can be overlooked, be it emotional, physical or environmental. In BodyTalk, we have developed a whole-healthcare system that supports and promotes the wellbeing of any person, animal, or plant. BodyTalk understands the profound influence the psychology of the body has on our health. Instead of focusing on the symptom, BodyTalk finds the underlying causes of illness by addressing the whole-person and their whole-story. The BodyTalk techniques provide insights to the areas of your body that need attention. What might seem like an obvious problem to you is not necessarily the one your body wants to address first. This is the beauty of BodyTalk. It respects the body's own needs and determines your body's priorities for healing. Then with the use of a variety of non-invasive techniques, BodyTalkers refocus your body's natural healing response to establish better communication within the body.
A brief medical history is taken, identifying particular symptoms, pains or chronic health issues. Fully clothed you will be asked to rest face up, on a massage table. You will be kept informed of the formulas being used. Most people feel relaxed as they are asked to breathe deeply while the BodyTalk practitioner gently taps on the head and sternum (heart complex). The duration of a session is not indicative of the quality of the session or the results that occur. Because your innate wisdom is dictating the session, you can be assured of receiving exactly what is needed at that particular time for the enhanced communication and balancing to take place. A BodyTalk session itself usually lasts between 15-45 minutes. Your innate wisdom will dictate when the session is complete and establish a time when you need to return for a follow-up session.
Thanks to the Innate Wisdom or Intelligence of Your Body! BodyTalk is based on the simple, profound principle that your body is capable of healing itself at all levels. Natural healing is automatically initiated when you cut your finger or twist your ankle. The stresses of daily living can compromise your innate healing ability and lead to degeneration and illness. BodyTalk reminds your body/mind to direct its healing to these neglected or compromised areas. As the Body- Biofeedback system provides a Yes/No communication between your body’s innate wisdom and your practitioner, indicating what part to balance and when. Linking- Good health depends on optimum communication amongst all the systems of your body. The practitioner asks your body which organs, endocrine glands, body parts, or techniques etc needs to be linked to facilitate healing and renew vigor. The Tapping Procedure - One of the most important developments in the BodyTalk System, gently tapping on the body to get it to focus on healing has been part of some indigenous holistic systems, such as yoga, for centuries. Tapping the head (brain) to ‘fix’ the faulty communication and the sternum (heart complex) to ‘store’ the fix facilitates the body’s own ability to restore and maintain its optimum balance. Exaggerated Breathing - Exaggerated breathing helps your body locate and target the corrections. Inhaling scans the higher frequencies of your body/mind including thoughts and emotions, while exhaling scans the denser frequencies – tissue, muscle and bone.
Auricular acupuncture is a diagnostic and treatment system based on normalizing the body's dysfunction through stimulation of definite points on the ear. Rudimentary forms of acupuncture which probably arose during the Stone Age have survived in many parts of the world right down to present day. It was used in the ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece and all the Mediterranean area. It is a microacupuncture technique similar to reflexology, and was first described in France in 1950 by Paul Nogier who is considered the Father of modern ear acupuncture. It was speculated that the technique works because groups of pluripotent cells contain information from the whole organism and create regional organization centers representing different parts of the body. Nevertheless stimulation of a reflex point in the ear seems relieve symptoms of distant pathologies. Modern research is confirming the efficacy of ear acupuncture for analgesia and anxiety related disease, while tobacco dependence and other substance abuse still need confirmation. Actually main methodological problems with auricular acupuncture are that exist too many maps with little agreement regarding point location in the ear, and that the correspondence or reflex systems does not correlated with modern knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Ear acupuncture is used to improve the body's flow of vital energy (also known as chi or qi) and to restore a balance between yin and yang (two opposing but complementary energies) within the internal organs. In traditional Chinese medicine, each of these effects is considered essential to treating disease and achieving health.
In alternative medicine, ear acupuncture is typically used for these and other health conditions: Allergies, Anxiety, Arthritis, Chronic pain, Constipation, Depression, Fibromyalgia, Headache, Insomnia, Irritable bowel syndrome, Low back pain, Migraine
